FAQ

Got questions? We’ve got answers. Browse our frequently asked questions below to learn more about how we work and what to expect.
What can I expect in my first appointment?
Your first appointment is about understanding you, not just your symptoms. We’ll take time to explore your health history, current concerns, lifestyle, environment, movement patterns, and nutrition. Depending on your needs, this may include assessment, hands-on treatment, and discussion of practical next steps. You’ll leave with a clearer picture of what’s going on and a plan that feels realistic and supportive.
No referral is required. You’re welcome to book directly. If you have relevant test results, scans, or reports from other practitioners, you’re encouraged to bring them along.
Treatment is always guided by your comfort and capacity. Some techniques may feel strong or unfamiliar, but it should never feel overwhelming or unsafe. Communication is ongoing, and your feedback matters — we work with your body, not against it.
That depends on your goals, history, and how your body responds. Some people feel meaningful change within a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term, staged support. This is something we’ll discuss openly, with no pressure or fixed expectations.

Functional testing (such as pathology, microbiome analysis, or hormonal mapping) helps us look under the hood to see how your body is actually performing. It’s not always necessary, but it is a powerful tool for those dealing with chronic fatigue, digestive issues, or hormonal imbalances.

Clinical Nutrition is a targeted, therapeutic approach. We don’t just suggest “better food”; we use specific nutrients, herbs, and dietary adjustments as clinical tools to support physiological functions like liver detoxification, gut repair, or nervous system regulation.

Yes. Irena has a specific clinical focus on environmental illnesses and chronic inflammatory conditions. These cases require a paced, multi-layered approach involving functional health support and lifestyle adjustments, which we manage collaboratively with you.

Yes, HICAPS/Health Fund rebates are available for Remedial Massage and Acupuncture, depending on your provider and level of cover. Please check with your specific fund to confirm your eligibility.

We recommend starting with the “Services” descriptions. However, if your needs are complex, you can email us a brief summary of your concerns, and we can guide you toward the practitioner whose expertise best aligns with your goals.
